We invite you to apply to join us and become a part of forging the future of steel in Alabama for generations to come.DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?The ideal candidate will lead process support for the Caster in the Steelmaking facility, providing guidance to shift crews to produce good quality slabs according to the most up-to-date, state-of-the art procedures, to meet the business goals of ArcelorMittal Calvert.The Basics:Bachelor's degree in EngineeringMinimum of 5 years of experience working as an engineer, specialist, or similar position in a casterBasic technical knowledge of CasterStrong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skillsComputer skills to include SAP and Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)The Extras:* Advanced technical knowledge of Caster preferred* Technical knowledge of Melt Shop preferredTRAITS TO BE SUCCESSFULHolds self and others accountable to meet commitmentsMakes good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forwardTakes on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasmBuilds partnerships and works collaboratively with others to meet shared objectivesActively learns through experimentation when tackling new problems, using both successes and failures as learning fodderWHAT YOU'LL BE DOINGMonitor and evaluate caster performance, to include production, cost, and quality key performance indictors (KPI's); Identify appropriate counter measures in case of non-achievement of KPI'sOptimize Caster productivity, capacity, energy, and consumption by monitoring industry best practices for caster processesCollaborate with Technology team to perform product trials; Provide process expertise to technology team for improvement project implementationInterface and communicate with maintenance team members and other members of steel making facility, to include EAF, LMF, RH, and RefractoryWrite and update work instructions for casters operations; Organize related HIRAC reviewTake ownership to seek and correct issues generating slab non-qualityCoordinate slab scarfing activities with scarfing contractorLead and support continuous improvement activitiesEnsure caster complies with environmental and safety regulationsLead/participate in incident root cause analysis and corrective actions for failures, to include safety incidents, environmental deviations, quality deviations and production lossesDemonstrate the company values of Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Relationships, and SustainabilityFulfill the commitment to ensure a safe and healthy work environmentFulfill the responsibilities required to achieve the Quality CommitmentDemonstrate commitment to teamwork by fostering an environment that embodies trust and respectEnsure working knowledge of competencies as defined in ISO 14001 (current version), IATF 16949 (current version), and ISO 17025 (current version)YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENTOffice and Industrial setting in the Steel Making facilityGulf coast region in Calvert, ALDays, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloadsPeople with heart pacemakers or any there electronic medical device are strictly prohibited from entering the furnace area. These devices include implanted pacemakers or implantable cardiac defibrillators where the device may be affected.
