Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants must demonstrate Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander status in addition to addressing the selection criteria.About us:NEBIRS provides a community-based service, including use of a Transitional Living Unit (adults only) to people living in the New England Northwest of the Hunter New England Local Health District. NEBIRS is a multidisciplinary team consisting of case management, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, speech pathology, clinical neuropsychology, social work and nursing.About the role:The successful applicant will form part of a multidisciplinary team aiming to provide high quality specialist brain injury rehabilitation services to clients accepted by the New England Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service (NEBIRS). Daily tasks involve:Client meetings, cultural support and educationReport writingSourcing information regarding available and appropriate servicesOrganising client appointments and gathering client information to send to servicesAbout you:As the successful candidate, you will exceptional communication skills and the ability to build therapeutic relationships and assess risk. You will work well within a multidisciplinary team and have an understanding of working within a community setting.How you'll be supported:The role is supported by the Manager for brain injury subject matter expertise, escalation of issues and the sharing of ideas. The multi-disciplinary team provides additional peer support for consultation and advice regarding clinical risk, care planning and the provision of high quality care. An education and training plan will be established specific to meet the needs of the successful applicant and they will be encouraged to link into local AHW/AHP clinical support groups.Requirements:Current eligibility to drive in NSW and the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes which may involve driving long distances.To be appointed as Aboriginal Health Worker: Holds or aspires to hold a minimum Certificate III qualification in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or a minimum Certificate III health qualification in the area of care in which the Aboriginal Health Worker works.To be appointed as Aboriginal Health Practitioner: Holds a Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice) and a current authority to practice as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).What we can offer you:At Hunter New England Health, enjoy a career where you're challenged by interesting work and surrounded by spectacular locations.
