Chemistry Summer Stockroom and Lab Assistant 2026

This position is funded through Federal Work Study (FWS) funds.Supervisor: Charles WeissHours Per Week: up to 40Location: On CampusApplication Deadline: Open until filledPosition Duration: Summer Term 5/25/2026 to 7/3/2026Position OverviewThe Augustana Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry is pleased to announce applications for Summer 2026 Stockroom & Laboratory Assistants. Positions are full-time (up to 40 hours per week), over a 10-week period; compensation is provided on an hourly basis at a rate of $13 per hour. Duties for this position are split between work in the Chemistry & Biochemistry Stockroom (under the supervision of the Stockroom Manager) and summer laboratory courses (June CHEM 1030 and July CHEM 1500, dependent on enrollment). Stockroom duties may include (1) preparation of chemicals and solutions, (2) inventory of Departmental chemicals, equipment, and glassware, and (3) miscellaneous tasks as needed by the Department. The duties of summer Laboratory Assistants may include: (1) provide general help and guidance for students conducting laboratory procedures, (2) assist the course instructor with setup and teardown of the laboratory each week, (3) monitor and respond to incidents involving laboratory safety, and (4) assist with grading of student work. Summer assistant applications are considered on an annual basis, and students are required to reapply each year.
