Find Your Future With Us at USDA – Animal Plant Health Inspection ServiceJob SummaryAs a Laundry Technician you will perform duties and tasks related to laundry services at the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF). QualificationsTo qualify, you must show you have had training and experience of sufficient scope and quality to provide you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Your answers to the vacancy specific questions must be supported by the work experience in your resume. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major DutiesThe duties may include, but are not limited to:Receives e-mail or work order request through an automated database/computer system for laundry service of biosafety level (BSL)-3 and BSL-4 laboratory clothing.Sorts soiled laundry by kind of clothing in order to determine the type of laundry treatment to be given each group.Places articles in washer drum in amounts not to exceed the load capacity.Removes laundry from washing machine, puts in carts and pushes to extractor.Inspects clothing and other articles for missing buttons, tears, and worn cuffs, collars, and facings.Sorts laundered clothing by individual person, folds garments and places in cart for distribution.Maintains stores of soaps, chemicals, starches, and other laundry supplies.Assigns lockers and locks inside and outside of containment to new hire employees.
