This position will support design activities of, primarily, Rigid, Rigid-Flex, HDI, and uHDI PCBs for Aerospace & Defense OEMS through early engagement in the customers’ design cycle and provide feedback on routing and layout techniques, offer cost trade-off analysis of PCB stack-ups, material selection, reliability, signal integrity and other electrical and mechanical requirements based on the customers’ end use application. Activity will include involvement in IRAD initiatives to support new product/process development with a focus on sintered paste technology, embedded actives/passives, innovative solutions and new technologies. This position will be remote with preferred Eastern region.Duties and Responsibilities:Provide DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFV (Design for Value) support to customer engineering and design teams for new designs and existing design improvement with a focus on reducing customers design cycle time Collaborate with customer designers to improve quality and completeness of their design packages and help them by identifying design problems related to manufacturability and reliability testSupport drawing reviews prior to design release and help architect drawing notes to support the specific design and manufacturing needsThorough knowledge of industry specification (IPC) requirements as well as customer developed specifications requirementsUpdate customer design and manufacturing groups on TTM capabilities and technology roadmap through formal presentationsProvide TTM manufacturing facilities insight into future customer needs, technology requirements and identify gaps in TTMs ability to support those future needs. Facilitate customer technical needs with TTM engineering and operationsAssist TTM site pre-production teams through the stack-up/DFM/TQ approval process and in getting “on-hold” issues addressed on the customer side expeditiouslyTravel to TTM sites to support NPD/NPI manufacturing requirements for successful executionThorough understanding of TTM manufacturing and design capabilities and value add offerings to support QTA/NPI/Production Manufacturing for Aerospace & Defense customersEstablish technical contacts between customer and TTM to drive improved lines of technical communications and increased depth of relationships Assist the Sales Account Managers in increasing customer revenue by providing technical support and serviceTravel to and visit customer sights to support technical discussions, issues, and key programs as required. Create and conduct technical capability presentations in conjunction with the sales teamThis position will interface regularly with TTM’s Sales, Development, Pre-Production Engineering departments, and Operations, and it is essential that the employee be able to effectively balance the communication channels between these departmentsEssential Skills and Knowledge:Develop a thorough understanding of TTM manufacturing and design capabilities and value add offerings to support QTA/NPI/Production Manufacturing for Aerospace & Defense customersAbility to establish contacts and build relationships with customers to drive improved communication and partnershipAbility to make routine decisions with general direction provided by department ManagerStrong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work well with customers design groupsStrong printed circuit engineering background and knowledge of entire PCB manufacturing process including process flows, individual processing steps, and pre-production tooling needsAdvanced knowledge of HDI technologies including uHDI and application of sintered paste bond in PCB stack-upsSelf-motivated and willing to work with minimum supervisionEffective public speaking and presentation skillsPLCM implementation and execution for applicable IRAD and/or franchise program readinessEducation and Experience:Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline preferred10+ years of experience in advanced engineering activities related to PCB manufacturing preferredIntermediate level skills using PCB CAM software, drawing / blueprint interpretation skills, and use of PCB stack-up toolsMinimum level experience of electrical design performance and signal integrity (Impedance, RF, and Insertion loss)Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft ProjectTravel for customer visits and TTM North American sites required up to 25% of the timeCompensation and Benefits:TTM offers a variety of health and well-being benefit programs. Benefits are available 1st of the month following date of hire.Compensation for roles at TTM Technologies varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set and level of experience. As required by local law, TTM provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in New York, California and Colorado.
