The ideal candidate will have experience developing, enhancing, and maintaining enterprise applications or platform solutions, with hands-on knowledge of object-oriented programming, REST APIs, SQL, Git, and Agile methodologies. Experience with LabVantage LIMS or other laboratory information management systems is highly preferred.Position OverviewThe Senior Groovy Developer will support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of scientific calculation logic within the Lab Vantage Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). This role is responsible for designing and implementing Groovy scripting solutions that support laboratory business processes, automate scientific calculations, and ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory data.The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience developing Groovy scripts within Lab Vantage LIMS or a comparable Laboratory Information Management System, along with strong expertise in the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) ecosystem and the ability to effectively leverage Groovy's dynamic capabilities to deliver scalable and maintainable scripting solutions. The successful candidate will also demonstrate strong analytical and mathematical problem-solving skills and have experience translating complex scientific calculations and business requirements into robust technical solutions. This role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, laboratory personnel, and technical teams to support system enhancements, testing, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.The primary objective of this position is to deliver reliable, maintainable, and efficient Groovy-based solutions that support laboratory operations, regulatory compliance, and the ongoing optimization of laboratory business processes.Required QualificationsMinimum five (5) years of experience developing and implementing Groovy scripting solutions, preferably within LabVantage LIMS or a comparable Laboratory Information Management System.Demonstrated experience translating complex Excel-based formulas, scientific calculations, and mathematical equations into Groovy script.Strong analytical and mathematical problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret, validate, and implement complex computational logic, including decay corrections.Experience integrating scripted logic into enterprise applications and supporting iterative testing, validation, and business user acceptance activities.Proven ability to develop accurate, maintainable, and high-performing computational solutions within regulated or data-sensitive environments.Deep proficiency in both Groovy and Java (8 through 11+), with a strong understanding of JVM mechanicsExperience configuring laboratory specifications, control limits, and instrument monitoring using the Statistical Process Control (SPC) module.Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), testing methodologies, and application support.Excellent analytical, communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.Technical SkillsLabVantage LIMS or comparable Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)Groovy scripting development and implementationTranslation of Excel-based formulas, scientific calculations, and complex mathematical equations into Groovy scriptsDevelopment and validation of computational logic, including complex calculations and decay correctionsStatistical Process Control (SPC) configuration, specifications, control limits, and instrument performance monitoringIntegration of custom scripting solutions within enterprise laboratory platformsSoftware Development Life Cycle (SDLC), application development, testing, debugging, and production supportSystem integration, validation, troubleshooting, and performance optimizationTechnical documentation, code review, and change managementStrong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skillsCross-functional collaboration with laboratory personnel, business stakeholders, and technical teamsExperience working in regulated, quality-driven, or data-sensitive environmentsAgile/Scrum development methodologies (preferred)Public sector and compliance automation experience (preferred)
