GPS currently operates two TK-8 schools, Grow Academy Arvin and Grow Academy Shafter, serving more than 1,600 students.Summary DescriptionThe Library Clerk helps create a welcoming, organized space where scholars can enjoy books and build a love of reading. This part-time role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, staying organized, and supporting students in finding books they’re excited about.Responsibilities Will IncludeMaintains an efficient system of classifying, cataloging, and circulating all library materials and checks out Library books and materials using Alexandria softwarePartners with teachers to provide books that support classroom units and themesCreates documents or spreadsheets to support Library organization and useAssists with planning and execution of school literacy events such as Read Across America Week, Scholastic Book Fair, and Literacy NightMakes ordering recommendations to site leaders as neededParticipates in ongoing professional development opportunitiesProvide literacy support by listening to students read and asking prepared comprehension questionsAssist the front office as needed during busy periods, breaks, or lunch coverageRelated duties as assignedRequired Knowledge, Skills And AbilitiesFamiliarity with the Dewey system and brick-and-mortar librariesDemonstrated passion for reading and literacyKnowledge of Google Suite including; Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, and Google SheetsExperience working with diverse learnersFluency in Spanish preferred but not requiredEducation And ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalentAt least one year of experience working in a school or similar settingPhysical requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
