Business Unit Controller

Position Summary:
The Business Unit Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial operations, reporting, and controls for the assigned business unit. This role serves as a strategic partner to business leadership, providing financial insights, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and driving performance through accurate reporting and analysis. The Controller manages the integrity of the unit’s financial statements and plays a key role in budgeting, forecasting, and decision support.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the business unit
Ensure compliance with US GAAP/IFRS, corporate policies, and internal controls
Manage account reconciliations, journal entries, and close processes for accuracy and timeliness
Coordinate with internal and external auditors as needed
Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead the annual budget and periodic forecasting processes for the business unit
Provide variance analysis and explanations to management
Identify risks and opportunities, recommending corrective actions where necessary
Business Support & Analysis
Partner with operations and business leadership to provide actionable financial insights
Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive efficiency and profitability
Support strategic initiatives, new projects, and capital investments with financial modeling and scenario planning
Support business growth initiatives, including new process development, ERP implementations, system upgrades, and other transformational projects
Controls & Risk Management
Maintain a strong internal control environment within the business unit
Ensure adherence to corporate accounting policies and procedures
Monitor and mitigate financial risks by ensuring accuracy in reporting and forecasting
Leadership & Team Development
Supervise and mentor accounting staff supporting the business unit
Foster collaboration between finance, operations, and corporate functions
Promote a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 in a controller or senior accounting or finance leadership role
Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS, financial reporting, and internal controls
Advanced proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft GP, D365, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills
Ability to balance strategic thinking with detailed financial execution

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
