Principal Laser Process Engineer
Job DescriptionOur client, a rapidly growing advanced materials and manufacturing technology company, is developing next-generation engineered materials used in high-performance computing, advanced power electronics, wireless communications, and other cutting-edge applications. Backed by significant investment and large-scale expansion initiatives, the company is focused on scaling highly advanced, environmentally conscious manufacturing technologies.They are seeking a Principal Laser Process Engineer to lead the deployment, optimization, and scaling of high-power laser processing systems across multiple manufacturing environments. This individual will work cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, automation, optics, software, and systems engineering teams to develop and industrialize advanced laser-based material processing technologies.In addition to driving hands-on process development, this role will also provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams focused on experimentation, process optimization, and data-driven manufacturing improvements.RESPONSIBILITIES:Optimize high-power laser processes to achieve micron-level precision material modification with high yield and throughputPerform hands-on experiments and support process development activities in both laboratory and manufacturing environmentsLead projects focused on equipment improvements and automation initiatives to support scalable manufacturing operationsServe as a technical subject matter expert for laser-related manufacturing processes and associated process controlsImprove data collection methodologies and process optimization efforts to support continuous improvement initiativesDrive development of advanced high-power laser systems focused on throughput, precision, and manufacturing performanceREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Advanced degree in Materials Science, Applied Physics, Engineering, or related technical discipline with 8+ years of relevant industry experienceStrong understanding of optics fundamentals, laser materials processing, and troubleshooting technical challenges within fast-paced manufacturing environmentsExperience conducting rigorous experimentation, documentation, and data-driven process improvement activitiesExperience supporting high-volume production involving advanced materials, semiconductors, ceramics, or related materials is a plus'BONUS' QUALIFICATIONS (NOT REQUIRED):Experience working within advanced manufacturing or precision materials processing environmentsBackground collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teamsExperience supporting process optimization, automation, or manufacturing scale-up effortsINCENTIVES & BENEFITS:Base salary up to $180K, w/ flexibility for strong senior candidatesEquity participation opportunityAnnual performance bonusMedical, dental, vision, life, and disability insuranceFlexible spending accounts and retirement savings plansPTO and paid holidaysOpportunity to work on highly advanced next-generation manufacturing technologiesFor a list of all our openings, please visit www.gygaforce.com
