Our mission is to provide support, companionship, and life-changing service dogs to those who have served our country and communities.Position OverviewPaws of War is seeking an experienced and passionate Dog Trainer to join our growing team. This role will involve working with both pet obedience clients and individuals enrolled in our service dog training program. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, patient, and committed to helping both dogs and handlers succeed.Key ResponsibilitiesLead group obedience training classes weeklyAssist in training and development of service dogs and service dog candidatesEducate clients on proper handling techniques, behavior modification, and training consistencyEvaluate dogs for temperament, behavior, and service dog potentialMaintain a safe, positive, and productive training environmentWork collaboratively with program staff to support client success and program growthTrack progress and provide feedback to clients and team membersQualificationsPrior professional dog training experience requiredStrong understanding of canine behavior, obedience training, and behavior modificationExperience with service dog training preferredAbility to work with a variety of breeds, temperaments, and handler skill levelsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsPatient, reliable, and team-orientedAbility to manage group classes and maintain structureScheduleFlexible scheduling availablePart-time and full-time positions offeredAvailability for evenings and/or weekends may be required based on class schedulesWhat We OfferOpportunity to be part of a mission-driven organization making a real impactSupportive and collaborative team environmentGrowth opportunities within a developing programThe chance to work with both family pets and future service dogsHow to ApplyPlease submit your resume and a brief summary of your training experience and background to sagea@pawsofwar.org.
