Merchandise ManagerThe Merch Manager reporting to the Store Manager is directly responsible for all Merchandising Operations within an assigned group of Departments in the store. This includes department layouts, signing standards, product features, raceway and promo aisle setup, markdowns, freight flow to the sales floor, loss prevention and shrink control, maintenance and detail recovery of their assigned departments. Acts as the Manager on Duty overseeing the store in the absence of the Store Manager and Co-Manager. Additional duties may include HR functions (hiring, staffing, paperwork HR and front end). The Merch Manager is also responsible for ensuring all company policies and procedures are understood and executed. Accountable for improving store volume, profits, shrink, employee retention/turnover and store merchandising/presentation standards by meeting and exceeding all established budgets and company guidelines.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for meeting or exceeding budgeted sales daily and driving all company KPIsOrganizes and directs all daily activities within their assigned departments to include all Department Merchandising and Ad Sets, merchandise flow from the stockroom, operations initiatives, loss prevention and personnel functions in partnership with the Store ManagerTraining and development of the Department Leads and Team Members within the assigned departmentsOpens and closes the store per company direction when assignedAssists the admin in employee selection and staffing within their assigned areasEvaluates, counsels and disciplines personnel based on performance in partnership with the Store ManagerEnsures flawless execution of all Company Initiatives to include: ad sets, markdowns, freight processing, detail recovery, weekend readiness, all company initiativesEnsure outstanding customer service by verifying all team members greet, assist and thank customers in a positive approachable manner. Ensures all customer issues are resolved and handled professionally and timely, holding everyone accountable to the standard. Present a positive image towards all team members, customers and the communityCommunicates policies, procedures, advertising and all pertinent information to the staffAudits operational controls to ensure all policies are adhered toHelp deter theft by ensuring all team members are greeting and assisting every customer, maintaining a visible management presence and modeling respectful customer service to the communityPosition Requirements:Ability to work varied hours/days, including 2-3 nights per week, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the businessThe ability to work at different locations in and around the city in which you live at the District Managers discretion. Potential overnight accommodations to assist in, but not limited to new store openings, store cleanups and inventory at the needs of the business and the District ManagerTransfers to other stores within the market may occur and will need to be flexible to those opportunitiesAbility to communicate effectively as it relates to communicating to customers and team members all Forman Mills written policy and procedures, training materials, directives and any other materials Forman Mills producesAbility to perform basic math functions in order to operate the register, make change and conduct inventoryMay be required to lift up to 40 lbs and on occasions up to 70 lbs from floor level with adequate fitness level to meet the demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing and repetitive lifting with or without reasonable accommodationMinimum Requirements:Must be 18 years or olderEducation: High School Diploma or Equivalent, College Degree PreferredExperience: 3-5 years of Management, Operations and Merchandising Experience within a Big Box organization. Softlines experience preferredJob Related Skills: Financial and Retail Management skills with experience building and motivating a high performing team of diverse team members preferred.
