After School Leadership Facilitator

The After School Take Action Facilitator facilitates programs at various high schools throughout Los Angeles. Sessions are held one day per week at multiple school sites Monday through Thursday. Facilitators at school sites are under the supervision of the TAC Program Coordinators and work with site staff and Program Traveling Mentors. Facilitators attend training and coaching sessions as scheduled. Facilitators attend collaborative team meetings every Friday. Facilitators must attend special events held on Saturdays. This position will be assigned to multiple school sites and therefore the facilitator must be willing to drive to different school sites in the Los Angeles area. The Take Action Campaign (TAC) – College and Career Awareness is Beyond the Bell’s leadership program for students in grades 9-12. The purpose of this program is to promote civic engagement and social activism, while providing tools for students to prepare them to be college and career ready. TAC – College and Career Awareness program empowers students to explore a wide variety of colleges and career options, while working to identify and address issues impacting their community. Students will have the opportunity to develop their skills in public speaking, project management, communication, and team building that will prepare them for success in college and in life. Responsibilities Sessions: Students participate in sessions hosted by facilitators using a project-based curriculum that includes leadership, healthy lifestyle, college access, community service. These activities are scheduled regularly throughout the school year during the after-school program. Service-Learning Project/ Campaign: Project-related activities such as learning to write a business letter, email, or make a business call to engage a local community partner. Host a school wide campaign on their school campus based on various topics assigned per month during the school lunchtime. Off-Site Events: There will be multiple events off site specific to our program throughout the school year. Detailed Responsibilities Travel to assigned sites daily, allowing for parking, session prep time, site check-in, and cleanup. Lead daily Curriculum and Educational Activities during designated sessions based on specific topics. Must assist students in creating a monthly community event at the school site during the school day. Facilitate Culminating events for students. Responsible for carrying, organizing, and requesting all supplies for the program. Responsible for picking up supplies from the Main Office and Storage. Responsible for all program documenting (Student Registration forms, Student Sign in and out forms and Field Trip paperwork) Responsible for ordering Pizza – food at each session. Responsible for all program documenting (Student Registration forms, Student Sign in and out forms and Field Trip paperwork) Assist during scheduled weekend events. Work at school sites under the supervision of Program Coordinator and work with Site staff by checking in weekly. Attend training, meetings, and coaching sessions. Participate in weekly meetings/conference calls with Program Coordinators, Traveling Mentors, Site Coordinators, and Facilitators to facilitate effective program implementation weekly, varying different locations in Los Angeles. Job Requirements Must be available Monday- Thursday 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM and Friday 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM (Schedule may be adjusted due to early dismissal, lunch events, and BTB/EduCare Meetings) Reliable method of transportation and a valid driver’s license. 2 years experience working in youth centered programs and/or community-based organizations. 2 years’ experience teaching, leading, and/or supporting secondary students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Additional Qualifications: Although the employee will be assigned to various school site locations, if EduCare’s needs change, the employee may be reassigned to another school site location. Must be willing and able to travel to multiple locations throughout the Los Angeles area for training, meetings, etc. on an as needed basis. Must successfully complete the Live Scan background check prior to beginning employment. Must complete CPR/First Aid Certification within 90 days of employment. Completion of other required training (i.e., worker’s compensation, training against harassment, etc.) when assigned.
