Commissioning / R&D Engineer

Position Summary: The Commissioning / R&D Engineer is a position requiring support of the Dürr R&D operations, as well as in field commissioning of Dürr products. The specific area of focus for this role is electrical controls engineering. This position will report into the research and development group, providing support both within the Dürr R&D facilities, as well as supporting product commissioning at customer sites on a global basis.This position may also require oversight/management and site supervision to meet the project goals and schedules. He or she must work closely with the individual site teams to ensure that installations are complete, ready for startup and the necessary resources and plans are in place for a successful startup and launch. The position requires travel and possibly extended stays at the job site(s)Participating in factory and site acceptance testing of Dürr manufactured equipment, will also be an essential responsibility for this role.Essential Functions And ResponsibilitiesProvide support to the Lithium Ion Battery businessProvide support to the research and development team in the De Pere, WI facilityProvide field commissioning for projects and products related to the LIB businessConduct equipment start-up and debugVerify hardwired installationDebug controls hardware and softwareRecord baseline dataMark up drawing changesForecast project scheduleProduce daily site reportsProvide standby and customer supportSupport field personnelSupport selection and controls of suppliers and Purchased Equipment vendorsWork as part of a team on major projects or individually on smaller projectsTrain customers on Durr Systems productsTravel approximately 50%Nonessential FunctionsPerform inspections of existing equipment and generate a field service report based on findingsPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor's degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent experience) preferred.Three or more years of position related experience in industrial process equipment, air handling, web handling systems or in a similar industry. Experience commissioning industrial equipmentComputing / programming experience: PLC, HMI, Windows, and Office SuiteFamiliar with basic electrical and mechanical engineering principalsFamiliar with P&ID schematics and controlsFamiliar with regulatory standards (OSHA, NFPA, MSHA)Proficient with PLCs (e.g. Rockwell, Siemens)Able to read and interpret AutoCAD drawingsProficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPointGood time management skillsGood organizational skillsGood verbal communication skillsGood technical writing skillsAble to work well independently and in a team environmentAble to technically define problems and propose solutionsAdaptable to change in a learning environmentWilling and able to work overtime, weekends, and holidaysPhysical Demands: While performing duties of job, incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; and use hands and arms.
