Job Title: Licensed-Eligible Clinician I of Behavioral Health Department: Behavioral Health Reports to: Director of Behavioral Health Minimum Starting Salary (DOE): $67,900 Exempt Employee The Licensed-Eligible Clinician I of Behavioral Health is a vital member of the counseling department. Under the direction of the Clinical Director, they are responsible for implementing and facilitating therapeutic services to support the emotional needs of the Jacob’s Heart families. Who we are: Jacob’s Heart Children’s Cancer Support Services exists to improve the quality of life for children with cancer and support their families in their challenges. We provide family-centered care that addresses the emotional, practical, and financial struggles of families of children and teens in treatment for cancer or other certain life-threatening conditions of a child. We envision a community where every child with cancer has a strong, supported, and informed family able to participate fully in their care. We strive to inspire compassionate action within local communities to create a safety net of support for the unique needs of each child and family. Essential Functions and Responsibilities The essential functions listed are typical examples of work performed by Clinician 1 of Behavioral Health and are not a comprehensive inventory of all duties, tasks, and responsibilities. Employees may also perform other duties as assigned. Maintain an Associate Social Worker or Associate Marriage and Family Therapy license in good standing with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Provide individual counseling sessions to clients (children, adolescents, adults, and families) navigating a cancer diagnosis and treatment or through the grieving process of a loved one. Facilitate group counseling sessions for clients navigating through a cancer diagnosis and treatment or the grieving process of a loved one. Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments to determine clients’ needs. Develop personalized treatment plans to meet the client’s needs. Crisis management. To support clients and colleagues, participate in Jacob’s Heart’s organized events, such as retreats, camps, and community events. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and ensure holistic support for clients. Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, including assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes, on time in an electronic health record system, in compliance with ethical and legal standards. Participate in regular clinical supervision, training, and professional development activities. Supports to identify and address mental health needs through innovative program initiatives and program design. Stay informed about current research, trends, and best practices in mental health counseling. Supports to identify and address mental health needs through innovative program initiatives. Participate in staff meetings, in-service training, conferences, and workshops. Demonstrate professional and ethical conduct with Jacob’s Heart families, clients, staff members, interns, volunteers, and community partners. Adhere to all confidentiality and mandated reporting laws. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Knowledge of strength-based and culturally competent services. Principles and methods of interviewing, counseling, crisis intervention, and assessing psychosocial behaviors. Knowledge of and ability to use the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5-TR) Criteria. Knowledge of mental health Electronic Health Record Systems (EHRs) and documentation standards. Ability and comfort working with children, adolescents, and families. Ability to assess an individual's behavioral and emotional strengths and challenges to design appropriate treatment plans. Establish and maintain effective work relationships with coworkers and partners, contributing to a positive climate and culture at Jacob’s Heart and with community partners. Strong work ethic and unwavering dedication to the well-being of children and families. Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills to support effective communication with Jacob’s Heart staff, volunteers, and community partners. Ability to coordinate the logistics for various meetings and family events. Ability to work evenings and weekend events. Minimum Qualifications / Requirements Requires a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage, Family and Child Counseling, or a closely related behavioral science field Be a registered Associate with the CA BBS (AMFT/ APCC/ ASW). Min Two (2) years of directly related experience or any equivalent combination of experience, training, or education. Bilingual in Spanish is required. Proficient in Google Docs and spreadsheets. Valid CA driver’s license and clean DMV record. Ability to pass a background check. CPR/First Aid Adult-Pediatric Certification Preferred (if not, class is provided).
