Senior Embedded Systems Engineer (Hardware)
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Embedded Systems Engineer with a strong hardware focus to lead innovative projects in electrical system design and development. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in designing, building and deploying highly embedded systems. Deep knowledge and know-how are a must in PCB layout, digital and analog circuit design, and high-speed signal integrity analysis. This role requires a keen understanding in the principles of timing closure, layout constraints, and signal integrity considerations for high-performance embedded systems. You will be responsible for overseeing project execution from concept through implementation. A strong background in firmware development, signal processing, and mechanical integration is essential to succeed in this position.Responsibilities: The candidate will:· Lead the design and development of complex electrical systems, including PCB schematics, layout, and system integration using CAD tools such as Altium Designer, AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and SolidWorks. Have experience with both analog and digital circuit design at RF signal frequencies, microcontrollers, complex multilayer boards, and SPICE simulation.· Conduct root cause analysis on electrical failures and implement corrective actions to optimize system reliability. Perform debugging and troubleshooting of hardware and firmware issues using tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, etc.· Be able to work with a wide range of technologies and protocols, including SPI, I2C, UART, and Ethernet.· Manage project scheduling to ensure timely delivery of engineering milestones while coordinating with manufacturing teams. Lead system design reviews and document technical specifications.· Collaborate on mechanical-electrical integration involving surface mount technology (SMT), soldering techniques, and mechanical knowledge for product assembly.· Help develop firmware for microcontrollers such as ARM-based systems and Arduino platforms using C++ and other scripting languages.Required Qualifications:· Must be a U.S Citizen· Prior Experience: 5+ years· Work on location in Torrance, CA· Minimum a BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field· Need strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a small team environmentCompany OverviewCHIRP Robotics is a well-funded seed-stage startup operating in stealth mode and based in Torrance, California.
