Job Summary:Construction Testing Services (CTS) is seeking an entry level geotechnical staff engineer to join our geotechnical department in our Rocklin office. CTS provides geotechnical consulting, materials testing and special inspection services to a wide variety of private and public projects including low-rise commercial and industrial buildings, medical clinics, office and mixed-use buildings, hotels, low- to mid-rise residential buildings including apartment complexes, subdivisions and low-income housing, schools, hospitals, storage tanks, tank farms, pump stations, carports, canopies, billboard signs, bridges, airports, roadways, flood control and levee embankments.Requirements/Qualifications:Possession of a B.S. in Civil Engineering with a focus on geotechnical engineering or ability to obtain one prior to hire (upcoming graduates are encouraged to apply)Possession of an E.I.T certificate or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hireSound knowledge of fundamentals of soil mechanics and foundation design via college curriculumSelf-starter and highly motivatedAbility to adapt to fast paced environment and exercise sound engineering judgementStrong analytical and problem solving skillsAbility to work independently and in groupsWillingness to learn and expand technical knowledgeAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.Possession of a driver's licenseResponsibilities:Perform site reconnaissance and draft geotechnical proposalsPerform geotechnical exploratory work in the field (borings, test pits, CPT, DCP, percolation/infiltration tests, etc.)Perform and review geotechnical laboratory testsDraft plot plans, logs, etc.Perform geotechnical analyses including but not limited to: shallow and deep foundation design, slab-on-grade support, pavement design, slope stability, earth retaining, site-specific seismic hazard analyses, settlement sensitivity, etc.Draft geotechnical reports and consulting lettersReview project plans and specificationsReview inspectors' daily field reportsPerform field testing and inspections during constructionCommunicate with clientsAll work would be performed under the supervision and direction of a licensed geotechnical engineer.
