Position Type:Teacher/Teacher - ElementaryDate Posted:4/17/2026Location:Martinez ElementaryDate Available:08/10/2026Accelerated Campus Excellence - Beginning in the 2026-27 school year, Martinez Elementary will reopen as an ACE campus, a proven whole-school model that provides intentional supports to ensure that every student can succeed, regardless of their background or circumstancesPrimary Purpose: The ACE Special Education Teacher provides students receiving special education services with engaging and rigorous learning experiences in core academic subjects to allow students to reach their full intellectual, emotional, physical and social potential. Develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to student ability levels. Work in self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacity as assigned.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Bachelor's degree from accredited universityValid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsementsSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned areaKnowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD)Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IE) goal setting process and implementationDeep knowledge of curriculum and instruction as well as educational evidence-based practicesKnowledgeable in the physical, mental and emotional child development processFosters a classroom environment with high structure and positive relationshipsAbility to instruct students and manage their behaviorExperience in using and interpreting data to inform decision-making processes that allow for intentional actions and lead to improved student achievementExceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsContributes to a culture, climate, and environment that values collaborationAbility to tell the AISD stories of inspiration, success, and opportunitiesFlexibility and adaptability to thrive in a dynamic educational environmentResponsibilities:Instructional StrategiesPromote the expectation for high-level performance from students and recognize excellence and achievement.Develop and monitor instructional and classroom management strategies to ensure that instructional practices are aligned to evidence-based practices implemented with fidelity.Ensure high-quality instructional materials and resources are implemented with fidelity.Prepare for class assigned and fully internalize lessons and instructional requirements of the district's curriculum program.Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in individual student differences.Evaluate and assess student performance in alignment with campus and district practices and expectations.Assess and document student mastery of curriculum objectives and student progress.Disaggregate and interpret data in order to assist in developing appropriate next steps for classroom improvement.Integrates technology to enhance real-world applications to the learner's experience.Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals and objectives for students receiving special program services.Follow all policies, practices, and procedures that create optimal learning conditions for students with special needs in alignment with IDEA.Plan and assign work to instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion.Classroom Management and OrganizationDevelop a classroom community that promotes student collaboration and ownership of academic performance and behavior.Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, emotional, and leadership development of students.Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.Compile and maintain required records.School or Community RelationsEstablish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.Make provisions for being available to students and parents for educational-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.Communicate with parents, families, and communities on a regular and consistent basis to ensure clear and consistent messaging to parents on both campus and classroom events and information.Engage with parents, families, and community members to increase parental involvement on the campus.Demonstrate awareness of school and community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs using appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.Professional Growth and DevelopmentServe as a transformational educator working to create a best-in-class learning environment.Demonstrate professional, ethical and responsible behavior.
