Learning agility and capability is critical to the role as the engineer will be required to explore new technologies and processes used to develop novel products or enhance existing ones. An engineer at this level focuses on developing their skill level, building entrustment with functional groups and demonstrating a pattern of accomplishments. Specific Fluid Conveyance product and/or processing knowledge will be learned at this level.Key Responsibilities IncludeRubber and thermoplastic formulation and testingTechnical project supportWhat You’ll Be DoingExperience with formulation and testing of elastomeric materials such as rubber and thermoplasticRegulate and approve raw materials used in production facilities ensuring reagent efficacy and sustainability in support of an Approved Supplier List (ASL).Open to 25% travel to domestic and international production facilities in a support role.Performing material science laboratory testing according to standard proceduresDemonstrates effective communication skills and successfully participates in cross-functional teams to execute project initiativesEnsure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environment.Establish best practices and “lessons learned” on compound formulas and process controls to achieve robust product quality and minimize scrap.What We're Looking ForRequired (basic) QualificationsBS or higher degree in chemistry, Materials Engineering, or related technical degree from an accredited institution.Minimum 3 years’ experience in materials science fieldPreferred QualificationsExperience with a production scale rubber mixer preferredTrack record of safely running standard equipment such as a two roll mill in a lab environment.A working knowledge of a wide range of polymers, fillers and curative types is ideal.Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) certification preferredWorking knowledge of problem solving techniques (Ex.: 8D, Fault Tree, 5 Why, etc.).Job CriteriaInternal and External communication is critical to the success of the role.The ability to spend significant time in a lab environment developing and testing elastomeric materials.Strong Drive for results is needed on the competency side.Has a record of contributing to improvements in technical or project management processes (Ex.: Actively participate on Task Force Teams, Focus Groups, or Kaizen Teams, etc.).What You'll Get from UsWe promote from within and support your learning with mentoring, training, and access to global opportunities.You’ll have flexibility, autonomy, and support to do your best work while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
