Commodity Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Manage procurement for one or more assigned commodities; lead commodity purchasing initiatives across multiple manufacturing plantsIdentify, evaluate, and approve suppliers; manage supplier development, performance (quality, delivery, value), and action plans.Negotiation contract terms which meet the needs of the company; LTA’s, cost, delivery, payment terms etc. within approval authoritySupports Plant operations by serving as an escalation point to resolve supplier issues.Analyze market and purchasing trends; provide leadership and expertise into the market of assigned commodity in such areas as: industry trends, cost drivers, global pricing, lead-times, technology and manufacturing capabilities of suppliers; mitigate threats related to increased material costs and availabilityBuild global commodity/supplier strategies while incorporating total cost of ownership modelsArticulate details of purchasing strategies/programs to executive level personnel of the organizationQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in related fieldThree (3) or more years of metals and international buying experienceISM C.P.M, C.P.I.M. or A.P.I certification preferredExperience with quality systems, quality review processes, ISIR, PPAP, and APQPExcellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required. Must be able to effectively communicate with customers and colleagues, write clear and concise e-mails, and participate in meetings and presentations in English.Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm and a sense of urgencyAttention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects in a timely mannerSome travel is required, would be limited but about 15% per year, may include international travel.
