Payrolls are multi-state and multi-union.KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for full ownership of the payroll process and independently processes the bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll through CeridianReconcile voluntary payroll deductions and submit payment requestsPrepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reportsProcess garnishments which include child support and tax leviesProcess special wage/salary payouts and adjustments via off-cyclesRespond to employee inquiries about payroll and payroll related mattersProvide excellent customer service to employees and HR Team membersCompile payroll data such vacation time, insurance and 401(k) deductionsMaintain paid time off and vacation accrual file quarterlyRecommend and participate in the development of new procedures and policies related the operation of payrollIssue W-2 Wage and Tax Statement reprintsRespond to and collect audit selection requests and dataComply with local, state, and federal laws for taxes, vacation pay, termination pay, etc.Investigate payroll discrepancies using contract knowledge and partnership with HRManage vendor and court relationships for garnishments, including interrogatories and data submission to third-party vendors Support payroll operations within union environments, ensuring adherence to collective bargaining agreements Handle payroll tax reporting, maintain vendor relationships, and lead remediation efforts for tax discrepancies or falloutREQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field3+ years payroll or related accounting experiencePREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:Strong Excel skills including usage of common formulas (i.e. Sum, V-lookup, IF statements, etc.)Ability to organize and maintain written standard proceduresCOMPETENCIES:Teamwork - Must work well in a team environment and have willingness to collaborate and share ideasTime Management - Ability to manage time and complete multiple tasks while continually meeting deadlinesTechnical / Functional Expertise - Must have strong computer skills, including MS Excel and OutlookCommunication - Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skillsCustomer Orientation - Proactive self-starter with a customer-focused approach to timely issue resolutionInterpersonal Skills - Proficient written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to effectively work with employees across the entire organizationDemonstration of Calumet Values – Safety, Environment & Social Responsibility, Teamwork, Ownership, Passion for Customers, and ExcellenceSalary and benefits commensurate with experience.
