Community Engagement Liaison
Position Description
The Community Engagement Liaison has the responsibility of working with and interpreting the work performed by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Harris County to community members and stakeholders to interpret the services and goals of department. This position will work with and support all program areas to market and promote the educational programming that this department provides for Harris County residents. The responsibilities described below will be performed in a professional manner through coordination and cooperation with other county staff members and under the direct supervision of the County Extension Director.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Plans evaluations for significant program activities
Develop and write press releases
Strengthen relationships with local media to include local television stations, radio stations, newspapers, magazines, and publications
Seeks internal and external funding to support educational programs
Prepares monthly, annual, and special reports
Prepares Extension program marketing in Harris County
Create infographics, newsletters, and publications that market and promote Extension programs
Develop long-range professional improvement plans
Build and maintain relationships with residents, community leaders, nonprofits, schools, and local organizations
Attend community meetings, events, and forums to represent the organization and gather feedback
Identify community needs, concerns, and emerging issues.
Support other program units in department
Performs other duties as assigned
Program Implementation
Supports and assists in the implementation of educational programs and activities in program areas for which other staff members have assigned leadership responsibilities
Identifies community members to enable them to participate in committees, clubs, and organizations
Support partnerships that enhance program delivery and community impact
Prepare and distribute outreach materials (flyers, newsletters, social media content)
Plan and coordinate community events, town halls, and engagement initiatives.
Other Duties
Keeps informed on Extension policy, research reports, and publications which are applicable to program responsibilities and position descriptions
Participates in regularly scheduled county staff conferences to coordinate plans, activities, and joint work to promote staff teamwork.
Keeps uniform files, up-to-date mailing lists and contact lists, up-to-date lists of Extension-related organizations and shares with others in the office
Maintains a neat, attractive office which facilitates effective working conditions and represents a favorable image to office visitors
Keeps informed on and comply with all policies and protocols of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Harris County
Works cooperatively with other staff members to coordinate planning, implementing, and evaluating county programs to meet the needs of clientele
Participates in formal and informal training opportunities to increase knowledge and skills

Requirements
Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills
Strong computer and Microsoft word processing skills
Valid driver's license (Texas by hire date) and a safe driving record

Preferences
A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
Experience equivalency may be considered if related and relevant to job responsibilities
Knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and math.
Possession of good vocabulary
Ability to develop and write press releases
Ability to create info-graphs, newsletters, and publications that promote and market educational programs
Ability to multi-task
Ability to form and strengthen relationships with local media to include magazines, newspapers, TV, Radio, and publications
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with multiple agencies
Ability to seek external/internal funding to support educational programs
Good software skills (Microsoft Office, Adobe, etc.)
General Information
Hours
40 Hours per Week / Monday - Friday
Flexible Schedule, Including Nights, Weekends and Holidays as Required
Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
