Utility Technician

The Utility Technician position is a broadly defined position that incorporates a number of responsibilities to keep our projects running smoothly. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Utility Technician responsibilities will include involvement with all aspects of the utility coordination process such as: Identification of existing utilities and preliminary plans reading. Establishing contact with the utility agencies/owners (UAO). Assisting with the preparation of Utility Work by Highway Contractor packages. Scheduling and attend office, field, and Teams meetings with utility agency owners. Prepare draft meeting agendas and meeting minutes as needed. Performing follow -up of meeting action items to assure effective coordination results. Working with major Utility Owners with facilities of electric, gas, water, sanitary, CATV, and communications, along with local municipalities. Communicating the status of coordination activities via emails, letters, and telephone to keep project team informed. Communicate with Senior level staff on progress of assignments. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High School Diploma. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excell, Word, Outlook, Teams). Strong communication skills. Familiarity with record drawings and/or GIS mapping a plus. Must have solid communication skills to coordinate effectively with FDOT staff, utility owners, design engineers, and construction managers. Strong organizational skills to handle multiple projects. Maintain focus on details with ability to prioritize projects and tasks to ensure schedule deadlines are met. Ability to work seamlessly with the project team, at all levels. Utility design or construction experience a plus.
