Job DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Lafayette, Louisiana.Job Description & RequirementsSpecialty: Med Surg / TelemetryDiscipline: RNStart Date: 06/01/2026Duration: 8 weeks36 hours per weekShift: 12 hours, nightsEmployment Type: TravelAssignment OverviewShift: Nights, 3x12hrsHours: 36 hrs/wkStart Date: Jun 1, 2026Length: 8 weeksOpenings: 1DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring cardiac drip titration, sheath pulling experience, and night shift availability.DetailsInpatient Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital settingPatient population includes chest pain, CAD, PVD, arrhythmias, DM, COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, HTN, MI, renal failure, PE, CHF, GI bleed, and syncope — with potential for med/surg overflow (e.g., sepsis, CVA, COVID+)Specialized procedures include pre/post cath lab care, PPM/AICD, ablations, vascular surgeries (CEAs, fem-pops), titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, Heparin), and sheath pulling at bedsideEquipment used includes telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, PCAs, epidurals, and wound vacsNight shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15Float to all other inpatient units requiredEvery other holiday requiredSpecific scheduling requests (e.g., block scheduling) cannot be accommodatedRequirementsActive Louisiana or Compact RN license currently in handCurrent BLS certification (AHA required)Telemetry certification requiredMinimum 2 years of RN experience requiredSkills required: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, on-unit monitoring, CABG, chest tubes, post-angiogram/MI/cardiac cath and sheath removal, port accessing, blood product administration, central line/peripheral line/PICC line care and management, IV insertion, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, isolation precautions, and wound care/managementMust reside 65+ miles from the facility to be eligible for this positionAdditional InformationFirst-time travelers with at least 2 years of experience are welcome to applyUpon accepting an assignment, the unit manager may assign travelers to an Emergency Team, which may require remaining at the facility during or after an emergency event or serving on a relief teamAll certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)RTO requests must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process8-week contractAmerican Traveler Job ID #P-705304.
