Spark Team Mission Statement: The Spark Team exists to serve visitors by providing the highest quality visitor experience through promoting visitor engagement. The Spark Team also supports the career development of Baylor Students by providing them with personal development and leadership opportunities.Objective:A student leader on the Education and Programs team for Museum Engagement will gain experience in informal education, customer service, and leadership by facilitating high levels of engagement on the floor for visitors, acting as an engagement coach for Spark Guides, and assisting with Team Lead responsibilities.Department: Baylor University's Mayborn Museum Complex, Museum Engagement TeamReports to: Museum Engagement Coordinator and Museum Engagement ManagerAvailability & Hours:Minimum 15 hours/week; maximum 30 hours/week.Sundays 12:30pm - 5:15pm are required.Flexible working hours during Mayborn Museum open hours.Monday - Friday 9:30am - 5:15pmSaturday 8:30am - 5:15pmEssential Functions:Assist with Spark Guide Operations Assist with Spark Guide onboarding and engagement training. Act as Team Lead for Spark Team by making schedules, answering student employee questions, and assisting in the galleries as needed.Assist with creating Spark Guide training information.Update and maintain Spark Box contents and hallway books. Assist Museum Engagement Coordinator with monitoring Spark Team performance. Assist with planning and facilitating Spark Guide monthly trainings alongside supervisor.Use When I Work app to keep schedule and availability up to date.Follow rules and guidelines set forth in Museum Engagement Student Employee Handbook Foster visitor engagement & training for Spark Guides in Play Waco & other areas of museum Assist with developing new models of engagement to prototype with museum visitors. Report out on time on the floor at weekly ME Team meetings.Coach Spark Guides on engaging in Play Waco, Traveling Exhibits, and Spark ZonesServe as a leader to model strong engagement on the floor to other Spark Guides.Assist with Museum Engagement programs and projects Maintain sensory bag inventory with weekly checks.Assist with ME team programs & other projects as needed.Secondary Functions:Assist in When I Work tasks as assigned Be "on call" for open or dropped shifts Other duties as assigned by supervisorLevel of Independence:The Lead Spark Guide is expected to work with a moderate level of independence. After training the student worker should be able to operate independently to complete projects and daily floor facilitation. Instructions and guidelines will be specifically written or verbally given.
