Position Title: Community Impact Manager Supervisory Responsibility: NA Reports To: Sr. Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion FLSA Classification | Exempt Requirements: As a retail grocer, we operate 7 days/week and 365 days/year and as such work in support of our stores may include evening and weekend hours per the needs of the business. Valid Driver License and vehicle required, with ability to travel regularly to store locations, trade shows / events and/or other off-site locations throughout the local region . About the role: Manages New Seasons Market’s community engagement and philanthropic strategy to better position New Seasons Market in the food justice movement, creating more food access and addressing the racial inequities in our regional food system. Responsible for overall management, general administration and implementation of community engagement and philanthropic programming for New Seasons Market. The position manages New Seasons Market’s strategy to better position the company in the food justice movement, create more food access, and address the racial inequities in our regional food system by promoting and representing New Seasons Market as a socially responsible force in the community. Creates and plans outreach programs that engage, support, and partner with the community and produce a positive impact to address local issues. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop clear objectives and deliver meaningful and measurable results. Supports community relations programs' entire life cycle, consisting of special events, volunteer management, donation and partnership requests, event sponsorship, and store openings; as well as the budget development and expenditure for all programming. Consistently conducts themselves in a manner that is consistent with company mission, vision, values and for promoting a positive and progressive work environment. Understands and complies with specific department or location guidelines, tasks and responsibilities.Position Specific Functions Manage the execution of programs, ensuring they are implemented effectively and within budget, while also monitoring and addressing any challenges that arise during implementation. Evaluate current and develop new programs, projects, or initiatives in line with the community and philanthropy impact model and strategic goals. Track the progress and impact of programs through regular monitoring and evaluation, using data to inform decision-making and improve program effectiveness. Develops and maintains relationships with community partners to remain agile in giving and engagement. Regularly communicate impact of community and philanthropy programming to all internal and external stakeholders through annual metrics and performance indicators. Manage and support intern or support staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and direction to ensure the successful implementation of programs. Responsible for NSM’s tone setting and partnerships in new neighborhoods, identifying opportunities and challenges to limit disruption and maximize community nourishment. Leads cross-functional collaboration to create and document standardized program and promising practices models that are clear, consistent and achieve program objectives. Identifies challenges in program implementation and maintenance and owns cross-functionally influenced sustainable solutions for program evolution. Drives program knowledge expertise across the organization and acts as go-to program expert for questions. Prepares and delivers presentations to increase knowledge, participation, and buy-in for broad audiences across the company. Supports project strategy office initiatives and integrates standards into core community and philanthropy programs. Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and lessons learned from program implementation to refine and improve program strategy and impact. Tools and Equipment Used (not all inclusive): This position works with standard office equipment. May be required to use the following tools and equipment when working in stores or offsite; baler, hand truck, POS, industrial kitchen equipment (i.e. blast chiller, grill, knives/blades, oven, grills, scales, etc.) and basic housekeeping / janitorial items . This position works consistently at a light work level and may be asked to work on occasion at a medium or heavy work level when supporting stores or other offsite events. Frequently required to sit, walk, reach and grasp. Occasionally required to be on feet with a mix of standing and walking throughout shift. Up to occasionally, dependent on location, required to climb stairs, step stool and /or ladders. As well as carry 1-20 pounds, lift 21-50 pounds, push and/or pull 1-50 pounds. Performs other tasks and duties as assigned. Reports all safety concerns and work-related injuries to management.Qualifications And Experience Minimum of 3 years of experience required in related field, such as community outreach, social services, needs/access coordination or program management.Some of this may be represented by volunteer experience. Previous food and/or grocery specific industry experience preferred. Formal education in related field such as sociology or community development preferred, however relevant work experience in lieu of formal education is acceptable. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity as well as contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment. Proven experience driving and executing strategic initiatives and projects that achieve measurable business results. Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint, with skills to learn new computer programs and systems. Experience using basic project management software is a plus. Collaborative, strategic thinker and problem solver, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously. Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with ability to respond to urgent job responsibilities as they arise and flexible when priorities redirect. Ability to travel regularly to store locations, events, and meetings in Oregon / SW Washington is required. Physical and Environmental Work Space: Work occurs in office, a variety of off-site environments and in a grocery store environment which includes surfaces that can be wet and slippery, moderate noise level, and temperature extremes in controlled environments in the cooler and freezer, and depending on location, working outside in all temperatures.
