Our Head Start / Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) program fosters a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment where children can explore, learn, and thrive.Position SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Head Start / VPK Lead Teacher to lead our Pre-Kindergarten classroom at Stanley Switlik Elementary. The ideal candidate will implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities that support cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of 3, 4 and 5-year-old children. You will work collaboratively with families, support staff, and district leadership to ensure a high-quality educational experience.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and curriculum aligned with Head Start and Florida VPK standardsCreate a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that supports all learnersPromote school readiness across all developmental domains (academic, social, emotional, physical)Supervise children at all times in the classroom, playground, and school settingsAssess student progress and maintain accurate documentation and recordsCollaborate with families, support staff, and administrators to support student successPrepare instructional materials and maintain an organized classroom environmentEnsure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, district policies, and safety regulationsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred or required depending on level)Meet Florida Head Start / VPK lead instructor credential requirements (e.g., emergent literacy training/FL Standards training as required).Ability to pass background screening and health requirements for employment.Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).Experience working with preschool-aged children preferred.
