DescriptionSUMMARYBuild and maintain mountain bike and hiking trails with use of machines. Operates excavators, dozers, skid steers, and chainsaws to build and maintain mountain bike and hiking trails. Assist with special events, such as bike races, marathons, and festivals. Other duties may be assigned.Operates machinery safely to construct and maintain mountain bike and hiking trails.Operation of various excavators, dozers and skid steers.Operation of Chainsaws to clear trail corridor and clear out new builds.Assists in leading hand crew to ensure quality of work.Assists with event staffing and organization.Builds features or maintains courses prior to events.Assist in setting up courses and tearing down.Course marshalling for races.Tests trails and features for safety as well as identify safety issues on open trails.Assists with design and layout of new trail construction.Performs any reasonable duty as assigned by management.Self-motivated, dependable and able to lead peers.RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETYProtect the safety of self, workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests.Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resort's Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals.Operate equipment safely so that it will not lead to injury to yourself or others.Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.WORK SCHEDULEDue to the nature of the recreation industry, we are in operation seven days a week. This includes weekends and holidays and there is no guarantee of hours. Flexible working hours may be required based on the business levels.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred. Prior machine operation experience required. Prior experience in a trail building in a bike park environment required. Must be a proficient mountain biker with ability to ride all levels of trails. Previous experience operating ATVs and trucks is required.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The employee must be able to communicate verbally with co-workers, supervisors, and contractors.REASONING ABILITYAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESMust possess valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENTThis is a physically demanding position.
