General Maintenance Worker

Job Title: Furnishings Management Services (FMS) WorkerPosition Status: Full Time, Non-ExemptLocation: Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota.Job SummaryThe FMS Worker will be responsible for managing and administering the furnishings for dormitories and the Fire Department at Grand Forks Air Force Base. This includes receiving, issuing, storing, redistributing, repairing, and disposing of furnishings in accordance with Air Force Instructions. The role involves performing Change of Occupancy Maintenance (COM), managing inventory, and ensuring the quality and timely completion of all tasks.Key ResponsibilitiesFurnishings Management: Manage and administer government-owned furnishings, including receiving, issuing, storing, and coordinating delivery and pickup.Inventory Control: Perform annual inventory of all furniture and appliances, maintain detailed records, and manage asset balances.Maintenance and Repairs: Conduct minor maintenance and repairs on dorm furnishings and appliances and perform Change of Occupancy Maintenance (COM).Quality Control: Develop and implement a Quality Control Program Plan to ensure all services meet required performance thresholds and industry standards.Inspections: Participate in initial, pre-termination, and final inspections of dormitory rooms, and provide detailed reports of maintenance activities.Administrative Duties: Maintain records and documents in compliance with Air Force regulations, and report contractor labor hours via the System for Award Management (SAM).Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, regulations, and Air Force Instructions, and address any discrepancies or defective services promptly.QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical training or certifications in maintenance, repair, or a related field is preferred.Experience: Previous experience in furnishings management, maintenance, or a related field. Familiarity with Air Force Instructions (AFI) and military housing management systems is a plus.Skills:Strong organizational and inventory management skills.Ability to perform minor maintenance and repairs.Proficiency in using management information systems (e.g., eMH).Excellent communication and reporting skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Other Requirements:Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.Must pass a National Agency Check for security clearance.Must comply with all base security and safety regulations.Work EnvironmentLocation: Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota.Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. May require occasional overtime or weekend work.Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy furnishings, perform manual labor, and work in various environmental conditions.
