Summary Of PositionThe Distribution Shift Manager develops, leads, and manages a team of employees required to execute the daily shipping and receiving functions required to get the right product to the right place in a safe and efficient manner.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Directs the daily staffing to complement the workload as prioritized by the shipment planner and receiving scheduleSupervises team performance including recognizing achievements and addressing poor performance on a regular basis.Communicates and solves item issues timely with appropriate departments (i.e. Customer Care, Sourcing, Manufacturing, etc.)Responsible for productivity performance enhancements and improvements. Drives operational improvements and efficiencies. Presents warehouse enhancements to Logistics Manager for approval. Monitors the Warehouse Management System to manage the daily workload and assists team members in problem solvingCounsels individuals not meeting required expectations according to discipline proceduresEnforces accountability regarding productivity, quality, housekeeping, and safety standardsCommunicate with staffing agency and Logistics Manager on job performance for temporary staffAuthorizes routine equipment repairs (internal and external) that pertain to the operationDocuments and reports hourly partner attendanceRenders feedback regarding the performance of hourly Partners and AssociatesDevelop talent by position and train team to be highly efficientOrganizes the daily manpower efficiently to achieve optimum shipments and receiptsUpholds excellent departmental communications (internal and external)Monitors labor management daily for complianceAchieves individual and team goals and promotes employee engagementRefuses deliveries that do not meet company standardsComposes and administers performance appraisals (off-cycle and annual)Leads huddles to communicate relevant information on a timely basisInterviews and selects qualified candidates for hiringReports, investigates, and communicates all safety incidents/initiativesMaintains a housekeeping programAssists truck drivers with relevant paperwork and handling of external customer callsPerforms special projects as assigned by the Logistics ManagerFacilitates safety sub committees as assignedMonitors equipment hour’s usage for contractual compliance.Utilizes KPI / report toolsManage and direct up to 35 peopleProposes overtime to meet the daily goalsSupports continuous improvement projectsAbility to manage costs drivers and improvement targets.Challenge processes and workflowManage in a well-organized and disciplined fashion with self-motivation and accountability
