Athletic Trainer

Job Description:The Athletic Trainer plays a key role in managing day-to-day sports medicine operations. Responsibilities include providing care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation for athletic injuries among student-athletes; scheduling coverage for practices, home games, and select away contests; and overseeing the creation, organization, and tracking of all student-athlete medical forms and insurance. All duties must be carried out in compliance with college, conference, and NCAA Division III rules and regulations, while aligning with the leadership, direction, and vision of the Vice President of Athletics and Recreation.Salary range: $70,000-$75,000 per year, commensurate with experience. The College offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement contributions, and generous paid time off. This is a full-time, 10-month, exempt position.Position responsibilities include:Provides onsite care and management of student-athletes' injuries and illnesses including prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation.Provides coverage for athletics contests and practices, both at home and away, requiring travel, as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.Communicates with physicians and coaching staff regarding the injury status of student-athletes.Maintains appropriate medical records, including pre-participation physicals, injury and rehabilitation documentation, outreach clearance forms, and insurance information.Assists in the daily maintenance of the athletic training room.Supervises interns and student staff.Frequent travel and early morning/evening/weekend/holiday work is required.Completes administrative and other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.Other duties as assigned or required.Requirements:Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred1-3 years' experience required (graduate assistantship experience will be considered).Certified by the National Athletic Training Association Board of Certification (BOC), required.Maintain Massachusetts state athletic training licensure, required.Meet criteria for certification as established in the National Athletic Training Association with respect to continuing education units (CEU'S), and First Aid CPR/AED certification, required, or willingness to obtain.Proficient in Microsoft Office.Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to foster an engaging, innovative, and collaborative workplace culture.Demonstrate skills in interacting effectively with students, staff, faculty, physicians, athletics personnel, families, and others.Must be available to work nights and weekends.Physical Requirements:Position involves sitting, movement and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds in training situations.Additional Information:Dean College is an equal-opportunity, Title IX institution and pledges to recruit, select and promote diversity by providing equality of opportunity in higher education for all persons, including faculty and staff with respect to hiring, continuation, promotion, and applicants for admission, enrolled students and graduates without discrimination or segregation.The College is interested in candidates who have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of colleagues, students, faculty, and community members.
