Find your future with us.Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Mid-Level and Senior Mechanical System Design & Analysis Engineers to part of the C-17 Sustainment Program located in Long Beach, CA.This position is to support the C-17 military cargo aircraft operating around the world. Focus for this position will be developing and maintaining aircraft mechanical systems such as hydraulics, flight control actuators, landing gear, environmental control, fuel and cargo handling.The successful candidate has an ability to perform systems integration; create assembly and installation drawings, perform basic related analyses and resolve technical problems. This position requires someone that is self-motivated, has leadership skills/lead potential and has good communication skills (verbal and written). This position requires someone that is customer focused with the ability to focus on building strong customer relationships.Position Responsibilities:Develops and maintains mechanical systems drawings and specificationsSupports analysis and design reviewsFollows documented processes, specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacture of mechanical system commoditiesPerforms technical review of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selectionSupports the sustainment, development, and documentation of aircraft systems, primarily mechanical system design (will include interacting directly with USAF customer, Field Engineers, and C-17 aircraft)Performs root cause analysis for field issues, provides corrective actions, and communicates with USAF customers (including presentations)Guide/mentor engineers in design decisions and design/solution presentationsOccasional travel to supply chain locations and military basesDemonstrated ability to lead small teams in establishing goals and managing projectsAbility to work multiple tasks concurrently in a time-constrained environment. Skilled in dispositioning customer support requests such as Service Reports, Design Deficiency/Material Improvement Projects and Crisis Management Team actionsDemonstrate adaptability in accepting assignments outside normal duties as requiredBasic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)3+ years’ experience with aircraft mechanical systems design, production, fleet support, or sustaining engineering3+ years’ experience working with internal and external customers3+ years’ experience demonstrating leadership skills (informal or formal)Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):5+ years of higher education and/or related work experience (Higher education includes college, university, technical school, licensing/certification programs, etc.)C-17 or other military aircraft experienceSkilled in presenting complex issues and solutions to the Air Force customer in both verbal and written formsDemonstrated leadership qualities and ability to follow throughSkilled in Unigraphics NX modeling and Teamcenter drawing release systemSkilled in drafting Time Compliance Technical Orders for aircraft in service changes and inspectionsDemonstrated engineering experience level to obtain Design Engineering Authority to approve waivers, non-conformance corrective actions and reworkDemonstrated engineering experience level to obtain Design Approval Engineer authority to approve designsTechnical Lead Engineer or ability to obtain certification for that roleVersed in Boeing procurement systemConflict of Interest:Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.Drug Free Workplace: Boeing is a Drug Free Workplace where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies.Pay & Benefits:At Boeing, we strive to deliver a Total Rewards package that will attract, engage and retain the top talent.
