Temporary Fire Alarm Technician

ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Temporary Alarm Systems Installation and Maintenance Technician, Fire Alarm Technician, for our ISS2 contract supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located on Eareckson Air Station.This is a rotational position in which the selected employee will work a schedule with 3 months on shift at a time, 1 month off, at Eareckson Air Station (EAS), located in Shemya, AK. While working on-site housing is provided in the form of a dormitory facility. All meals are furnished through the cafeteria. Transportation to EAS from Anchorage, AK, is provided by government-sponsored aircraft.This Temporary position will last for one 3-month rotation.Summary/General Description of Job:The Alarm Systems Installation and Maintenance Technician installs, inspects, tests, maintains, and repairs intrusion detection and fire alarm detection and suppression systems in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications and National Fire Protection Association standards. This position will require the incumbent to travel to other project locations for extended periods of time. Essential Duties & Job Functions:Inspects fire alarm detection and annunciation equipment and replaces defective componentsRepair fire alarm systems as required to eliminate all trouble signalsAccomplish recurring scheduled inspections and or maintenanceRespond to all reported troubles and correct system errorsMaintain fire alarm systems per UFC 3-601-2Tests initiating and signal circuits, detectors, and the system transmitterMakes needed repairs, checks pressure gauges on suppression system storage containers, and recharges or replaces containersAssure suppression systems are free of corrosion and assure operationCoordinate and report all system status to the station fire chiefMaintain maintenance and inspection computerized records up to date in NFPA required formatMaintain, troubleshoot, and repair intrusion detection systems (Vindicator)Performs related work as assigned. Accountable For:Common safety practices and protective equipment are used on a construction site.Procedures for the safe operation and maintenance of electrical circuits, both overhead and underground.Solid‐state and conventional control circuitry,Using hand and power tools commonly used in the construction trade.Understanding and following directions.Reading and working from blueprints and engineering drawings.Work Conditions:The employee is regularly required to talk and hear to understand instructions, provide information, and respond to safety warnings. Work conditions require the employee to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; taste or smell; and work on scaffolding and ladders, as well as elevated platforms and confined spaces when required to access systems. The employee may frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance and lift and/or move heavier objects with assistance.Mandatory:High School Diploma or Equivalent.Minimum two (2) years' experience in inspection and repair of fire alarm, detection, annunciation and suppression systems.Honeywell Vindicator Certification or obtain within 180 days of hire.Obtain an interim security clearance and obtain a secret clearanceCurrent and ability to maintain NICET Level II (AK Class 1B) certification for fire alarm detection and annunciation systemsCurrent and ability to maintain NICET Level II (AK Class II B) certification for water-based suppression systemsCurrent and ability to maintain NICET Level II (AK Class III B) certification for special hazards suppression systems Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug testCurrent CPR certification or the ability to obtain.Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background check, fingerprint, physical, and drug test.Preferred:Experience working in a remote locationConfined space training
