Geotechnical Engineer
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Geomechanical Engineer to join our clients team in Arizona. This role will support geotechnical and geomechanical analysis for our open pit portfolio. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical capabilities, field experience, and expertise in rock mechanics, ground control, and numerical modeling.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct geomechanical assessments for underground and surface operations.Analyze rock mass behavior, slope stability, stress distribution, and ground support systems.Develop and interpret geotechnical models using industry-standard software.Support mine planning and design through geotechnical recommendations.Monitor ground conditions and evaluate operational risks.Prepare technical reports, engineering calculations, and project documentation.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including geology, mine engineering, and operations.Participate in field investigations, instrumentation programs, and site inspections.Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company procedures.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, or related field.Master’s degree preferred.Minimum 3–7 years of geomechanics or geotechnical engineering experience.Experience in mining, tunneling, oil & gas, or subsurface infrastructure projects preferred.Proficiency with geotechnical and numerical modeling software such as FLAC3D, Rocscience, RS2, or similar.Strong understanding of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and ground control principles.Excellent communication and technical writing skills.Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure preferred.Ability to travel periodically to project and mine sites within Arizona and neighboring states.
