We are a 5 year running Top Workplace in the Greater St. Louis area.Job SummaryLeonardo DRS Land Systems is seeking a full time Supervisor Operations I for our Machining area in our Bridgeton, MO location. This role is responsible for supervising and leading a machining and welding team, ensuring safety, cost, schedule, and quality goals are realized for an assigned area/product line/work cell. This role will work with their peers in the company to improve the manufacturability of products and advise on make/buy decisions.Job ResponsibilitiesOversee the day-to-day activities of the machining and welding areas. May support other areas as neededEnsure proper safety requirements are followedCoach and train team on tooling selection, machining techniques, and adjustments to meet quality and cost goalsEnsure product/service quality through proper utilization of resources and adherence to applicable standardsCarry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's polices and applicable laws and regulationsLead activities to resolve issues and problems, identifying root cause and effecting appropriate corrective actionMonitor and enable internal and external customer satisfactionDrive continuous improvement through deployment of best practices, such as Lean Six SigmaMaintain and continuously improve areas, which impact on Team Member safetyHire, manage career development, and assess performance of assigned team membersSupport, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organizationAttend applicable internal or external customer meetingsParticipate on special project teamsSupport new product introduction activitiesQualificationsAssociate's degree in related discipline or equivalent experience. Bachelor's degree preferred2+ years of relevant experienceDemonstrated leadership and coaching skillsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsProficient technical expertise with demonstrated knowledge of CNC programming (MasterCAM)Proficient technical expertise with CNC mills, lathes, and tool selectionKnowledgeable of work safety requirements around machineryExperience with Industrial Engineering concepts, 5S/6S, and lean techniques and principlesKnowledgeable and familiarity with standards (ISO, AS, etc)Knowledgeable of manufacturing cost methods and key inputs to control costPosition requires the ability to squat, kneel, lift, and climb/crawlWilling and able to travel up to 10% as neededThe salary range for this position is $66,049.00/year- $85,864.00 for the state of Illinois. This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. Several factors can influence the pay scale, including but not limited to: Federal contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic location, business considerations, scope, and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity. Other factors include the candidate's qualifications such as prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education/training, and certifications.
