Actively Screening for Lab Technician to join food testing client in Atlanta, GA!Job DescriptionThe primary role of a Lab Technician is to support laboratory operations by maintaining laboratory and supply storage areas, equipment, instruments, and supplies. The technician is expected to utilize general lab methods, techniques, equipment, and instrumentation in alignment with quality assurance programs and standard operating procedures.Responsibilities+ Retrieve samples from Sample Control for analysis.+ Perform sample preparation, including aliquot samples, spike and trace samples, prepare reagents, bottle samples, prepare concentrations, separation, sonication, and liquid rack setup.+ Resolve discrepancies and anomalies to ensure samples are properly labeled.+ Prepare general lab paperwork such as recording analysis results, tracking samples, bench sheets, and lab logbooks.+ Wash lab glassware to prepare for the next day's samples and stock lab supplies.Essential Skills+ Proficiency in laboratory techniques and sample preparation.+ Strong background in biology and chemistry.+ High School Diploma required.Additional Skills & Qualifications+ Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Biology is highly preferred.+ Experience in quality assurance, microbiology, food chemistry, environmental monitoring, quality control, food safety, and food science.+ Consistent job tenure of at least 1 year.+ Relevant experience or achievements in school, extracurriculars, internships, research, or jobs.+ Experience in the food service industry is beneficial.Work EnvironmentThe position is located in a microbiology food testing lab. Work schedules are either Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Thursday, with up to 5 hours of overtime. The lab operates 7 days a week, and shifts are scheduled between 10 am and 8:30 pm. The lab's primary role involves ensuring the quality and safety of food, particularly ready-to-eat peanut butter and poultry, for food manufacturers.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Atlanta, GA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $15.00 - $17.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
