Prep Cook
Overview
Responsible for preparing, portioning, heating, and serving meals and snacks to children in a childcare setting. Ensures all food is handled safely and in accordance with health and sanitation standards. Carefully follows dietary guidelines and allergy restrictions to prevent cross-contamination and ensure the safety of all children. Maintains a clean kitchen and food service area while supporting daily meal routines.
Responsibilities
Prepare ingredients and components for daily menu items, ensuring all items are ready for children
Assist with food preparation tasks such as chopping, slicing and portioning ingredients with precision and care
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, adhering to strict food safety standards
Handle food with care, following proper food handling procedures to prevent contamination and waste
Assist in menu planning by preparing ingredients according to specified recipes and portion sizes
Support staff by keeping inventory and assisting in weekly food orders
Qualifications
Previous experience in dietary departments or dietary aide roles is highly desirable
Hands-on experience with food preparation,
Strong knife skills and familiarity with meal preparation techniques are essential
Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling practices is required
Experience in food service, catering, or the food industry demonstrates valuable culinary exposure
Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail
Excellent teamwork skills and a positive attitude toward supporting kitchen operations
Pay: $16.00 - $16.50 per hour
