This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and maintaining robust MS SQL Server-based database applications that support various business functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database design, data integration, and performance tuning, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. As a key contributor, you will support data flows to data warehouses and marts, facilitate data exports, and respond to internal research and data requests. The role offers an excellent opportunity to work on complex datasets, innovate within your area of expertise, and contribute to the company's leadership position in the industry.QualificationsU.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident status.Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.Minimum of 5 years of post-graduate experience in database development and management.Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server 2019 or later versions.Extensive experience with SQL Server database design, ETL processes, data import/export, and large datasets handling (hundreds of millions of records, terabytes of data).Strong skills in TSQL, including writing complex queries, stored procedures, views, and functions.Experience with data modeling, database normalization, and performance tuning.Preferred experience with Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, and BitBucket.Knowledge of EDI, transportation data, general ledger coding, and financial systems is a plus.Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.Ability to quickly learn new technologies independently.Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and diagnostic skills.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.Self-motivated with the ability to work remotely, independently, and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and test MS SQL Server-based database applications to support business operations and strategic initiatives.Create, optimize, and maintain SQL stored procedures, views, and functions to ensure efficient data processing.Develop and test data file export integrations with client systems to facilitate seamless data exchange.Support data flows to data warehouses and data marts, enabling effective business intelligence and analytics.Innovate within your areas of responsibility to maintain and enhance the company's market position as an industry leader.Collaborate with team members to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues promptly.Respond to data and research requests from internal users, providing timely and accurate solutions.Analyze complex problems, communicate findings, and assess user needs to determine optimal technical solutions.Create and update operational and process flow documentation to ensure clarity and compliance.Perform system and query performance tuning to optimize database efficiency and response times.Serve as a backup to other technical team members, ensuring continuous support and coverage.Participate in scheduled off-hours deployments and be available on call for emergencies to support system stability.BenefitsVaco offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the health, well-being, and professional growth of our employees.
