The Syracuse City School District represents 35 schools and programs, including 6 high schools, 6 middle schools, 6 K-8 schools, 13 elementary schools, and 4 alternative education programs, serving approximately 19,000 students Pre-K-12. Of these students, 82.3% qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, 20.1% are served by the Office of Special Education, and 83% are students of color. JOB DESCRIPTION: The Assistant Director of Information and Student Management Systems is responsible for overseeing the accuracy, integrity, and reporting of student data across district platforms. This role supports instructional, operational, and compliance needs by ensuring effective system integration, reliable reporting to New York State, and ongoing support for school and district leadership. REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Office of Information & Technology ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Student Information System (SIS) Oversight Provide oversight and management of the district's Student Information System (SchoolTool). Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and system functionality to support instructional and operational needs. Student Data Transfers and Systems Integration Ensure accurate and timely transfer of student records between district systems, including School Tool, Right Reason, Frontline, and other connected platforms. Maintain alignment and integrity of student information across all data systems. Student Records and Documentation Management Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of student records and related documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements. Support for Building and District Leadership Provide support to school and district leaders regarding SIS-related questions, issues, and data use. Deliver professional learning and training to ensure effective use of data systems to support student outcomes and operational decision-making. Course Coding and Catalog Support Conduct SCED (School Codes for the Exchange of Data) code audits in collaboration with content leaders. Support course catalog accuracy to ensure proper reporting and alignment with state requirements. State Reporting and Data Compliance Support in the review of master schedules and enrollment data to ensure accurate fiscal and accountability reporting to New York State. Support weekly reporting through New York State's Level 0 system, ensuring timely updates and verification of student demographics, enrollment, and program data throughout the school year. Ensure proper entry and exit codes in the Student Information System to reflect accurate reporting. Reviewing Level 2 within the SIRS to ensure accuracy in our district UIAS Report. QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated experience working with a SIS system Working knowledge of spreadsheets, databases, and reporting tools Strong organizational skills Strong communication skills Experience teaching in K-12 Education The successful candidate will be required to pass a fingerprint-based background check, at the cost of $102.00 to the candidate. SALARY/SALARY RANGE: Salary and benefits pursuant to the Unit 2 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
