Smith Industries designs and manufactures engineered process equipment and utility infrastructure solutions serving the Oil & Gas, Data Center, Utility, and Industrial markets across North America.We are seeking motivated Mechanical and Industrial Engineering students who want hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is not a desk-only internship. Students will spend time in the engineering office, on the shop floor, and alongside operational leaders working on real projects that directly impact production, quality, efficiency, and customer delivery.What You Will DoSupport manufacturing and production engineering initiativesAssist with process improvement and continuous improvement projectsReview engineering documentation, drawings, and bills of material (BOMs)Support production planning, scheduling, and project execution activitiesAssist with material tracking, reporting, and operational metricsCollaborate with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teamsParticipate in shop-floor problem solving and root cause analysisContribute to projects that improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost performanceWhat We Are Looking For Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in:Mechanical EngineeringIndustrial EngineeringManufacturing EngineeringOr a related engineering disciplineStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesProficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard engineering software toolsExcellent communication and teamwork skillsInterest in manufacturing, fabrication, operations, project management, or continuous improvementWillingness to spend time both in an office and manufacturing environment What You Will LearnParticipants will gain practical exposure to:Manufacturing OperationsContinuous Improvement & Lean PrinciplesProduction Planning & SchedulingMaterial Management & Supply ChainQuality Systems & Process ControlProject ManagementEngineering Documentation & Design SupportExecutive Leadership and Cross-Functional Decision MakingWhy Smith Industries?At Smith Industries, interns and co-op students work on meaningful projects alongside experienced engineers and operational leaders.
