Electrical EngineerLocation: Rancho Cordova, CAWork Arrangement: 100% Onsite – 5 days/weekEmployment Type: Temp-to-PermExperience: 5+ yearsEducation: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical EngineeringPE License: PreferredAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support modifications, upgrades, and engineering projects for existing hydroelectric generating plants. This position will function in an engineering capacity and be responsible for developing and modifying technical deliverables associated with power generation facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hydroelectric or fossil power generation plant design, a solid understanding of applicable electrical codes and standards, and the ability to independently perform engineering analysis, calculations, and design work. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity for the right candidate and requires the ability to work onsite five days per week in Rancho Cordova, California.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and modify electrical engineering designs and technical deliverables for modifications and upgrades to existing hydroelectric generating facilities.Apply advanced engineering techniques, analyses, and methods to moderately complex engineering problems.Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, studies, reports, and other technical deliverables.Perform complex engineering calculations using established engineering methods, standards, and principles.Evaluate existing plant electrical systems and develop engineering solutions for modifications, upgrades, and improvements.Research and provide recommendations regarding electrical equipment, materials, systems, and design approaches.Apply and interpret applicable engineering codes, standards, design guides, and client requirements.Ensure engineering work complies with applicable NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and California Electrical Code requirements.Coordinate electrical engineering activities with other engineering disciplines, project teams, clients, and external stakeholders.Review engineering work and deliverables prepared by less-experienced engineers and designers.Provide technical guidance and direction to other team members.Lead or support engineering production teams and coordinate multiple discipline activities as required.Assist with project planning and execution while maintaining budget, schedule, quality, and technical requirements.Identify project risks, technical challenges, and client requirements and develop appropriate engineering recommendations.Independently manage assigned engineering tasks with limited supervision.Delegate appropriate technical assignments to junior-level engineering and design personnel while providing guidance and oversight.Support multiple projects or engineering activities involving moderately complex technical challenges.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.5+ years of related electrical engineering experience.Minimum 5 years of experience with hydroelectric or fossil power generation plant design.Experience developing electrical engineering deliverables for power generation facilities.Working knowledge of NFPA 70 / National Electrical Code (NEC).Familiarity with the California Electrical Code.Experience interpreting engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design requirements.Ability to independently perform engineering calculations, analysis, research, and design.Experience using Bluebeam for reviewing, marking up, or developing engineering documentation.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.Ability to work onsite 5 days per week in Rancho Cordova, CA.Preferred QualificationsProfessional Engineer (PE) license preferred.Experience with SKM Power*Tools, ETAP, or similar power system analysis software.Experience with electrical power system studies and analysis.Experience with modifications, upgrades, or rehabilitation of existing power generation facilities.Experience providing technical direction or reviewing the work of junior engineers/designers.Experience coordinating engineering activities across multiple disciplines.What We're Looking ForThe ideal candidate is an experienced Power Generation Electrical Engineer who can operate with a high degree of independence and contribute to complex plant modification and upgrade projects.
