Guided by power, love, and vision of our community, CHIRLA embraces and drives progressive social change.POSITION DESCRIPTION:CHIRLA is looking for a compassionate, purpose-driven individual to join their Humanitarian Department as an Afghan Services Assistant.In this role, they will be responsible for coordinating and ensuring efficient and quality delivery of Afghan community services to Afghan nationals who arrived as part of Operation Allies Welcome. The Afghan Services Assistant will work closely with case workers to provide comprehensive support services that address the immediate and long-term needs of our clients. The ideal candidate for this position is someone who thrives in a team environment, has strong communication skills, is highly adaptable, and has a deep understanding of the challenges faced by those who arrived at the U.S. as part of OAW.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides direct support to CHIRLA’s Afghan Community Services team, assisting them overcome logistical hurdles in the administration of client servicesPlan & facilitate culturally and gender appropriate group sessions, webinars and orientations in person and remotelyConduct individual needs assessments and group evaluationsCreate individual self-sufficiency plans with participantsMonitor client progress towards goals through each group sessionProvide workshops in Dari and/or Pashto or arrange interpretation for group sessionsArrange community partner presentations to support group learning objectivesIdentify and enroll candidates for group programming document through case notes group participation and attendance with a focus on achieving goalsPrevious work with immigrants and refugees strongly preferredStrong communication skills and ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to follow ACS guidelines and procedures to support deliverablesStrong written and verbal communication skills, to include active listening, developing rapport and resolving conflict. Ability to case note in a timely mannerPrevious experience facilitating group programming desired requirementsCommitted to the mission, vision, and values of CHIRLA. Desire to serve and empower community Afghan membersAbility to work in cross-cultural settings.
