The primary role includes creating precise programs that control machine tools, ensuring parts are produced accurately and efficiently. This role will focus heavily on CNC programming. At General Dynamics Mission Systems we manufacture Beryllium products used in the most demanding applications, across the aerospace, defense, and nuclear industries. Our products are used in high performance targeting and guidance systems, missile defense systems, space exploration, and satellites.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and write CNC programs for machining aerospace componentsInterpret engineering drawings and specifications to create accurate programsOptimize tool paths and machining processes to improve efficiency and reduce cycle timesCollaborate with design engineers and machinists to ensure manufacturability and production requirementsTroubleshoot and resolve programming issues and machine errorsMaintain and update CNC program libraries and documentationConduct trial runs and adjust programs as needed to ensure precision and qualityDevelop and optimize machining processes for aerospace componentsConduct time studies and apply lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiencyTrain and mentor production staff on new processes and equipmentParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and reduce costsEnsure compliance with industry standards and regulationsCollaborate closely with the manufacturing shop floor to ensure the seamless integration of CNC programming with production operationsSkills / Knowledge / AbilitiesProficiency in CAD/CAM softwareStrong understanding of CNC machine operation and G-code programmingKnowledge of materials and machining techniques specific to aerospace componentsAbility to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&TExperience with DNC (Direct Numerical Control) systemsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong attention to detail and precisionAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentStrong communication and documentation skillsExperience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodologiesOur Commitment to YouAn exciting career path with opportunities for continuous learning and developmentResearch oriented work, alongside award winning teams developing practical solutions for our nation's securityFlexible schedules with every other Friday off work, if desired (9/80 schedule)Competitive benefits, including 401k matching, flex time off, paid parental leave, healthcare benefits, health and wellness programs, employee resource and social groups, and moreSee more at com/careers/why-work-for-us/benefitsWorkplace OptionsThis position is fully on-site.While on-site, you will be a part of the Cullman, AL facility.Salary NoteThis estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.).
