About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented Back-end Developer to join our team at Shipcom HQ in Houston. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and enhancing back-end applications that support our diverse IoT solutions. Your expertise will help improve the robustness, scalability, and performance of our platform, ensuring a seamless experience for our users. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including front-end developers, database administrators, and product managers to create integrated, secure, and efficient systems. As a key member of our technical team, you will have the opportunity to influence the architecture and development of core features, contributing to the overall success and growth of our IoT platform. Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree preferred 7+ years of professional experience in enterprise software development
- Proven experience building high-performance, scalable systems
- Strong proficiency with runtime environments such as Node.js and ASP.NETProficiency with server-side languages including .NET, C#, Python, and PHPWorking knowledge of IoT strategies, standards, and protocols
- Experience with database technologies such as SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar
Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks and libraries like AngularJS, React, Amber, Three.js, and Babylon.jsKnowledge of front-end languages including HTML, CSS, and JavaScriptExperience deploying applications on cloud platforms such as Azure and AWSUnderstanding of code versioning tools and CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with Agile Scrum methodologies
Strong organizational, project management, and multitasking skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Passion for innovation, problem-solving, and delivering value to customers
Responsibilities:
- Architect, design, and develop software solutions to manage complex business workflows
- Define and implement APIs and integration strategies with third-party applications and platforms
- Identify architectural risks and develop mitigation plans
- Collaborate with front-end developers, DBAs, and other team members to establish objectives and create cohesive, functional code
- Design, develop, and integrate web APIs to enhance platform capabilities
- Analyze data, processes, and codebases to troubleshoot issues and optimize performance
- Identify opportunities for improving system efficiency and scalability
- Ensure cross-platform optimization for web and mobile devices
- Implement security and data protection best practices
- Stay updated on the latest developments in web applications and programming languages
- Adhere to project timelines and measure progress effectively during development cycles
