We are currently seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent for our office located in Carson, California. EXPERIENCE: Retail, Restaurant, Tenant Improvement, and Ground Up’s SUMMARY: Superintendents are responsible for all field related activity such as jobsite safety, cost, quality, and scheduling on one or more projects; depending on scope and scale of the work. They work closely with management staff regarding all aspects of the project and communicate regularly requesting support and taking direction as necessary to ensure successful project delivery. Our Superintendents also help maintain our relationships with our Clients, Architects, Consultants and Subcontractors. Daily activities are conducted to promote the company's vision, mission and core values. RESPONSIBILITIES:  Assists business development and marketing efforts as requested to procure work  Mentors and assists project staff.  Assists the preconstruction efforts by conducting constructability reviews, preliminary schedule feedback, suggestions for value analysis.  Assist management staff in developing bid scopes, conducting bid and scope analysis, and making recommendations for contract award.  Create, implement, and monitor the site logistics and management plan.  Plan and coordinate daily work activity, including sequencing and interaction of trades.  Monitor and maintain the construction schedule and take corrective action as required.  Monitor subcontractor performance and enforce compliance or take corrective actions.  Monitor the timely approval of submittals and assist the management team in identifying long lead items.  Assist the management staff when necessary in reviewing shop drawings and submittals.  Exercise primary responsibility for project safety, including site separation and jobsite activity.  Exercise primary responsibility for Jobsite quality control.  Accurately document the daily progress of the Project.  Conduct and keep a record of weekly progress meetings with the trades.  Maintain complete and organized records at the site.  Ensure timesheets and materials are job and cost coded properly.  Ensure material procurement and delivery in a timely manner.  Review job costs regularly with management staff.  Maintain tool inventory and report status as required.  Ensure the punch list is created, distributed and completed in a timely manner.  Ensure compliance with all OSHA jobsite requirements.  Understand and utilize the Company Policy and Procedures Manual and Best Practices Guidelines including Master Forms Library.  Participate in ongoing training efforts.  Ensure workplace safety including on-site housekeeping. Report issues to project team immediately.  Performs other functions as requested of them by management or the client.  Conduct evaluations for all assigned employees on your project.  Ensure client needs are exceeded throughout the course of the project. KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:  Educational and experience requirements includes a 4 yr Construction Management degree or a minimum of 7 years extensive construction experience.  Must have a reliable vehicle and be willing to travel throughout California.  Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines including but not limited to, safety regulations, inspections, scheduling, cost control, quality control, construction drawings and erosion control.  Ability to assume responsibility, interface, and effectively communicate with others is a must, including subcontractors, site employees, and clients.  Ability to lead and evaluate trade performance is essential.  Demonstrate enthusiasm for challenges and new initiatives. Have a "never-say-quit" attitude and "do whatever it takes" to complete the project. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, ladders, scaffolding, etc. and negotiate work areas under construction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  Performing this job requires use of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and listen, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. WORK ENVIRONMENT:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works from the onsite office and can be exposed to site conditions such as: moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud and one should seek and use proper PPE.
