Field Service Engineer
The Field Service Engineer is responsible for on-site support to BD customers, including installation and service of diagnostic instrumentation, after-hours phone support, holiday and weekend on-site support, marketing, exhibitions, and clinical trials support.
Responsibilities
Install and service instrumentation with minimal supervision according to ISO and GMP standards, providing thorough follow-up service to ensure customer satisfaction. This includes calling customers after service completion to verify all needs were met and documenting all service activities in compliance with GMP requirements.
Maintain proper car stock inventory, test equipment, tools, and technical documentation, and manage company vehicles according to Corporate fleet policy.
Display maturity and judgment in time management and expense control, keeping all travel and site visit expenses within established guidelines, and manage credit card and spare parts inventory.
Report quality control and technical problems in detail to the Service Center and System Support Engineering Manager, and interface with other departments to resolve customer issues promptly and thoroughly.
Promote and maintain excellent customer relations through high standards of personal appearance, ethical behavior, and good judgment.
Minimum Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience troubleshooting instruments or components.
Valid Driver’s License.
Willingness to travel a minimum of 50% of working time.
Physical ability to lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Requirements
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Engineering, or related field.
Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer with medical devices.
Experience with flow cytometry technology.
Experience in customer‑facing roles.
Proficiency with diagnostic tools, MS Office, and both Mac and PC operating systems.

Location and Shift
Primary Work Location: Western Ohio / Southern Michigan. Work Shift: 8 am–5 pm (US BD 1st Shift).
