Job Title Consulting Biologist - Wetland/Water Specialist Job Summary Western EcoSystems Technology, Inc. (WEST) is a dynamic consulting firm seeking a full-time Consulting Biologist - Wetland/Water Specialist in the Rocky Mountain region of the United States. Remote or hybrid work will be considered, but preference will be given to candidates who can work from a WEST office. The role focuses on wetlands while supporting general biology and field surveys. WEST offers mentorship and growth opportunities for early-career and mid-level biologists. The position involves wetland/water delineations and permitting, leading project teams, and supporting environmental planning and consulting. It includes overseeing seasonal staff, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and traveling throughout the western U.S. Responsibilities Plan and lead wetland/water delineation project work Work comfortably in remote and rugged locations that require hiking or 4WD/ATV proficiency Communicate with clients and agencies to evaluate and lead Section 404/401 permits Manage and support natural resource field studies such as wildlife inventory and habitat mapping Write technical reports that meet client and regional agency standards Communicate with project managers and field biologists to execute project work Perform quality checks to ensure WEST standards and client requirements are met Support day-to-day project administration Market WEST's capabilities, prepare scopes of work, budget estimates, and respond to proposal requests Requirements Minimum of a bachelor's degree in environmental planning, biological sciences, natural resources, ecology, or equivalent Ability to perform wetland/water delineation and support Section 404/401 permitting Strong botany skills; rare plant experience a plus Knowledge of threatened and endangered species assessments to support wetland/water permit requirements Experience in environmental consulting or project management with wetland/water work, including budgeting and proposal writing Emphasis on health and safety Strong written and spoken communication skills Understanding of the energy development process (renewable energy and linear projects preferred) Good time management, adaptability, and ability to meet deliverable targets and deadlines Ability to follow instructions from managers and accept guidance and constructive criticism Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screening, DMV records check, and possess a valid driver's license Equal Employment Opportunity WEST provides equal employment opportunities to all individuals regardless of race, color, religion, gender identity or expression, age, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, and any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law.
