Safety Specialist I

Our unique business model, combined with our dedication to delivering the highest quality products, enables team members to contribute to a larger capacity than is possible in typical positions.Position DescriptionThe Safety Specialist I supports Applied Medical by promoting a safe working environment through compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, risk assessment, and proactive hazard mitigation. This role contributes to the organization by conducting inspections, supporting incident investigations, assisting with safety training, and ensuring facilities, equipment, and practices align with regulatory requirements.Working closely with cross‐functional teams, the safety specialist I helps advance a strong safety culture while supporting compliance with California Division of Occupational Safety and Health requirements and Applied Medical safety policies.Key ResponsibilitiesReview plans and specifications for machinery and equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.Conduct inspections of facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify hazards and areas of non‐compliance.Investigate workplace incidents by identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.Audit Applied Medical buildings for compliance with California Division of Occupational Safety and Health requirements and safety features.Assist in evaluating practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to applicable laws and regulations.Provide safety guidance, recommendations, and solutions to enhance prevention measures and improve workplace safety.Perform safety training for team members to support awareness, compliance, and safe work practices.Maintain current knowledge of safety policies, regulations, and industrial processes to support continuous improvement.Success in This Role Looks LikeSafety inspections and audits identify risks early and support timely corrective actions.Incident investigations result in clear root‐cause identification and meaningful prevention measures.Safety training increases awareness and reinforces compliance with company policies and regulations.Facilities and equipment demonstrate improved alignment with regulatory and safety requirements.Safety data and reports provide leadership with accurate, actionable insights.Position RequirementsThis position requires the following skills and attributes:Holds an associate's degree in occupational health and safety or an equivalent field of study.Applies knowledge of hazard identification, data analysis, and risk assessment methodologies.Produces clear reports and supports the development of safety policies and procedures.Demonstrates strong problem‐solving skills and attention to detail when identifying safety concerns.Communicates effectively with team members through written documentation and interpersonal interaction.Uses Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.Operates computers, copiers, and general office equipment effectively.Applies experience with enterprise resource planning systems such as Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing (SAP).Understands and complies with company safety rules, quality systems, and organizational policies.PreferredThe following skills and attributes are preferred:Demonstrates proficiency in California Division of Occupational Safety and Health Title 8 regulations.Holds an Associate Safety Professional certificate in occupational health and safety.Brings one year or more of experience working in occupational health and safety.BenefitsCompetitive compensation range: $28 - $30 / hour (California).Comprehensive benefits package.Training and mentorship opportunities.On-campus wellness activities.Education reimbursement program.401(k) program with discretionary employer match.Generous vacation accrual and paid holiday schedule.Please note that the compensation range may be adjusted in the future, and bonus and incentive compensation plans may apply.Our total reward package reflects our commitment to employee growth and well-being, as we invest in your development and offer a range of benefits designed to enhance your career and life.All compensation and benefits are subject to plan documents and written agreements.Equal Opportunity EmployerApplied Medical is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
