Our products are found in projects of all sizes worldwide, and we are proud to support them by providing the industry's best customer service.Our Sioux Falls, SD team is growing, with an in-office opportunity for a Staff Accountant.The Staff Accountant plays a key role in maintaining financial accuracy while supporting gross margin integrity and inventory control. This position is responsible for general ledger activities, month-end close, inventory accounting, and detailed margin analysis. The ideal candidate understands how operational decisions impact profitability and works proactively to identify risks and improvement opportunities.Here's what you'll get to do:1. Month-End Close & General LedgerPrepare and post journal entries (accruals, reserves, inventory adjustments, allocations)Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations with a focus on inventory, COGS, and related reservesMaintain clear and audit-ready supporting documentationEnsure proper revenue and cost recognition in accordance with GAAP2. Gross Margin Analysis & Cost AccountingPrepare monthly gross margin reporting by product line, channel, and customerAnalyze price, volume, and cost variancesIdentify margin erosion trends and root causes (freight, returns, rebates, discounting, cost increases, etc.)Assist in maintaining standard costs and reviewing bill of materials accuracyMonitor landed cost components (freight, duty, tariffs, warranty accruals)Support pricing analysis and profitability modelingPartner with operations and sales teams to improve margin performance3. Inventory Management & ControlsReconcile inventory subledger to general ledger monthlyAssist with inventory reserve analysis (excess, obsolete, slow-moving)Support physical inventory counts and cycle count programsMonitor inventory turnover, aging, and shrink trendsReview adjustments for accuracy and proper authorizationAssist in developing reporting to improve working capital managementAnalyze inventory carrying costs and support improvement initiatives4. Financial Reporting & AnalysisAssist in preparation of monthly financial statementsSupport budget vs. actual and prior-year variance analysisProvide margin and inventory insights to leadershipPrepare ad hoc profitability and cost analysis5. Audit & ComplianceSupport annual review/audit with detailed inventory and margin documentationEnsure GAAP compliance for revenue recognition, inventory valuation, and cost accountingMaintain internal controls around inventory and COGS6.
