Storyboard Artist Apprentice
Santa Monica, Los Angeles Skydance AnimationSkydance Animation is excited to welcome two emerging Story Artists as apprentices. With the help of their designated mentor, the Story Apprentices will join the studio in a rotational program having opportunities to hone their craft while working on real feature productions and getting an in-depth look at Skydance Animation's culture, including our filmmaking process and our people. In addition, a learning curriculum will be built around the apprentices to help support future growth as artists.Candidates must be 18 years or older and have approximately 1 year of experience as a story artist and/or revisionist, but no more than 2 years in feature animation.AnimationResponsibilitiesUse artistic skills to bring characters, settings, and stories to lifeWork alongside their mentor and team(s) to create a visual representation of the story's narrativeTranslate script pages by developing thumbnails, roughs, and storyboards that depict the requirements of the scene/sequencePitch storyboards to mentor, crew, Head of Story, and Director, and other members of the Skydance Animation creative teamInnovate and elevate ideas, keeping in mind leadership's requests and vision while adding your own creative flairModify, revise, and edit sketches and boards addressing notesGather reference material for projectsCommunicate progress of work to mentor and other appropriate staffEnsure quality and style of show is consistently achievedParticipate in brainstorming sessions with other story artistsAttend and contribute to relevant meetings as neededRequirementsMust be 18 years or olderApproximately 1 year of experience as a story artist and/or revisionist (this can include previous internships, trainee experiences, etc.) but no more than 2 years in feature animationAvailable full-time (40hrs per week) for 7 months between June 15, 2026 – January 22, 2027Located in, or willingness to relocate to, the Los Angeles Metropolitan areaPortfolio that demonstrates your skills with storyboarding and illustrationEagerness to learn and actively participate in studio offeringsKnowledge of anatomy, perspective, and compositionSense of filmic staging and storytelling, entertainment, and humorAbility to present storyboards in an effective mannerJ-18808-Ljbffr
