ControllerPosition Summary:The Bank Controller is responsible for assisting the CFO in overseeing the bank’s accounting and financial reporting functions. This includes managing internal controls, preparing financial statements, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing financial insights to support strategic decision-making. The Controller works closely with the executive team to maintain the financial health and integrity of the bank.Key Responsibilities:Financial Reporting:Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP or IFRS) and regulatory requirements.Coordinate external audits and regulatory examinations.Accounting Operations:Manage the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure appropriate cost allocation.Internal Controls & Compliance:Develop and implement strong internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.Monitor changes in banking regulations and ensure the bank adheres to new rules.Liaise with internal and external auditors to ensure timely completion of audits and implementation of recommendations.Budgeting & Forecasting:Assist with the development of the annual budget in collaboration with other departments.Monitor budget performance, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions as needed.Provide forecasts and financial analysis to guide decision-making.Risk Management:Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring the bank maintains adequate liquidity and capital reserves.Assist CFO with asset and liability management (ALM) and help with interest rate risk management.Strategic Planning:Work with senior leadership to develop long-term financial strategies and goals.Provide financial data and reports to support decision-making and business growth.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldStrong knowledge of banking regulations, financial reporting standards (GAAP or IFRS), and compliance requirements.Proficiency in accounting software and financial systemsExceptional analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.Core Competencies:Attention to Detail: Ensures accuracy in financial reporting and accounting processes.Problem Solving: Identifies financial issues and develops effective solutions.Regulatory Knowledge: Stays informed of relevant banking laws and regulations.Financial Acumen: Deep understanding of financial management and accounting principles.The Bank Controller role is vital for maintaining the financial stability and regulatory compliance of the bank while supporting its long-term strategic goals.
